Chelsea and Newcastle tempers flare after final whistle as Kai Havertz and Dan Burn are restrained in angry scenes

TEMPERS flared at full time of Newcastle’s victory over Chelsea.

Joe Willock’s goal settled the fiery affair and saw the Toon Army climb to third and just FOUR points behind leaders Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are way down in EIGHTH, so no wonder they were fuming.

Kai Havertz looked the most aggrieved and was almost trying to fight the entire Newcastle team.

The German appeared to be particularly unhappy with Dan Burn, which led to Jacob Murphy also getting involved.

In truth, it was the first time on the night Graham Potter’s side laid a glove on the hosts.

Eventually, Havertz was guided away by Jorginho and Callum Wilson, although Marc Cucurella was next to have a go.

After a 20 seconds or so, the melee died down, but some Chelsea players continued to argue.

This was their fourth domestic defeat on the bounce, leaving them a massive eight points behind fourth.

If only Chelsea showed that much fight when it really mattered, they might not be without a domestic victory since 16 October.

But that’s now five Prem matches without a win and six on the domestic front if you include their Carabao Cup exit.

As a result, the Blues could head into the break as low as ninth in the table, providing neighbours Fulham beat Manchester United tomorrow.
