But as the curtains were pulled back, sea shanty star Nathan and Saint PHNX appeared on stage to sing a 25-minute set just for them and their guests.
The trio posted about the up close and personal gig on their socials to celebrate the release of their new single The Wedding, ahead of the release of their album ‘Angels’ Share’, out January 16.
To celebrate the new song, Nathan and the band surprised fans Gary and Lynn by crashing their actual wedding, with a very special live performance during their reception at Cornhill Castle in Biggar, Lanarkshire.
While Lynn, 41 was completely in the dark, hubby Gary, 37, knew the trio were going to make an appearance – but had to keep it a secret for a week.
He said: “Nathan had asked on his Facebook if any of his fans were getting married.
“We were tagged in it and his team contacted me about it.
“Then they emailed again saying it was definitely happening.
“To keep it a secret, I got one of his team to email us saying we’d been unlucky so I could show Lynn – but the truth was completely different.”
After the couple, from Blackwood, Lanarkshire had enjoyed their day at Cornhill Castle, they were due to have a full night with dance DJ Zander Nation.
But Gary said: “Lynn sat down and the curtains opened up. You could hear a pin drop.
“One of Lynn’s family said ‘that looks like Nathan Evans. It f***ing is Nathan Evans!’
“The smile on her face was amazing.”
Lynn said: “I had no idea – I nearly passed out in the chair.
“I didn’t know who it was because my eyesight is terrible without my glasses.
“They played for about 25 mins and played among other songs Caledonia, which I was piped in to my wedding with.
“That was magical.”
Gary added: “The day of the wedding, everything went amazingly. It was the best day of our lives.
“And then to top it all off, Nathan Evans and Saint PHNX Band plays a set for us.
“Absolutely fantastic.”

The Liddells – who have been together 12 years – run their own electricians business 2 Core Electrics and have a seven-year-old son Cody.
Former postie Nathan, from Airdrie, shot to fame in 2020 on TikTok and a year later topped the singles chart with Wellerman.
Fresh off a landmark streak of achievements including a sold-out, career-defining show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro and the announcement of their debut collaborative album Angels’ Share , the track captures the band’s signature blend of powerful storytelling, anthemic production and heartfelt sincerity.
‘The Wedding’ marks the latest glimpse into Angels’ Share, and continues the songwriting magic that has defined their partnership, following in the footsteps of viral hits and fan favourites such as ‘ Milarrochy Bay ’ – currently on the BBC Radio 2 New Music playlist with support from Scott Mills, Jeremy Vine, Trevor Nelson, Sara Cox and more – ‘Arabella’, and ‘Cotton Eye Joe’.
The band is also set to headline and curate Heather On The Hill Festival, a family-focused event taking place on Saturday, 22 August 2026 at the Royal Highland Centre as part of Edinburgh Summer Sessions.
Created by Nathan Evans and the Jukes brothers, the festival will feature artists including Cian Ducrot, Ella Henderson, Skerryvore, Brooke Combe, and NATI, with more acts to be announced.
Tickets for the festival are available to purchase here .
