Senegal have been dealt a major blow ahead of their opening fixture against Nigeria at the 2024 African Nations Championship following injury to their first- choice goalkeeper Idris Ndiaye.

Ndiaye has been ruled out of the competition after failing to recover in time from the injury he sustained in the final of the Senegal Cup.

The shot stopper featured in his club’s Generation Foot 1-0 victory over Jaraaf Dakar.

Head coach, Souleymane Diallo, has been forced to hand late invitation to Cheikh Lô Ndoye as his replacement few days to their opening fixture against Nigeria.

Ndoye is expected to link up with the squad in Zanzibar next week Monday.

The defending champions will face Nigeria at the Amman Stadium, Zanzibar next week Tuesday.
