Championship playoffs: Sheffield beat Bristol City, qualify for final

Published on May 13, 2025 at 05:17 AM

Sheffield United cruised into the Championship playoff final following a 3-0 win over Bristol City on Monday.

The Blades had thrashed their opponents 3-0 in the first leg last week.

And they repeated the same scoreline at Bramall Lane, winning the tie with a 6-0 aggregate.

Kieffer Moore, Gustavo Hamer and Callum O’Hare scored the goals for Sheffield.

United will now take on the winner of the second semi-final in the playoff final at Wembley on May 24.

Sunderland lead Coventry City 2-1 ahead of the second leg of their tie at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday.

United were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season having managed only three wins in 38 games.

They finished third in the 2024/2025 Championship season, behind Leeds United and Burnley, who earned automatic promotion.
