Champions League: David Beckham names player to emerge highest scorer

Former England international, David Beckham has named the player to score the highest goal in the Champions League this season.

The Champions starts on Tuesday with matches scheduled across major cities in Europe.

Paris Saint-Germain won the trophy last season, beating Inter Miami 3-0 in the final.

In an interview on CBS Sports, the former Real Madrid winger was asked for his Champions League top goalscorer.

He believes that Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe will beat other players for the Champions League golden boot this season.

He said, “I love Lamine [Yamal]. I think the hype about him is real and I think he’s a hell of a talent,” he said.

‘But I’m going to go with Kylian as top goalscorer. I think Kylian, last season, he scored the goals that he scored.

“I really believe that this season is going to be his season in La Liga and the Champions League.”

Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy and Barcelona’s Raphinha have finished were the highest goalscorers in the Champions League last season.

Both players scored 13 goals each in the Europe elite club competition.
