But if it came to an offer from former club .

He told City AM: “If that makes him happy, that’s him.

“You want your employees to stay with you for as long as possible but at the end of the day we don’t own him and he’s free to go to Chelsea if he wishes.”

Former and midfielder Fabregas has a minority stake in Como after joining the club as a veteran in 2022.

He helped get them promoted from Serie B in his only season as a player before moving to the academy as a coach in 2023.

From there, Fabregas’ stock has risen, leading the attractive lakeside team to a 10th place finish in their first year in the top flight.

And now Como, who have had high-profile players , Pepe Reina, Sergi Roberto, , Alberto Moreno, , and now in their squad, are in the fight to secure qualification.

But Fabregas is not letting the speculation get the better of him.

In his first press conference after Rosenior’s departure, Fabregas was asked about the Chelsea job and replied: “Nothing to say about that.

“It’d be stupid to think about that now, my focus is on the next game against Genoa.

“I believe I will continue my chapter as Como head coach and focus on the next games.

His growing reputation and past links to Chelsea – where his name is still sung regularly by the fans – has made him one of the early contenders to be .

He had said earlier in March: “I am very committed to this project.

“You never know, but right now I think it’s very unlikely I’ll leave .

“Last year, I wanted to see how other clubs operated. I mentioned it to the president, but I decided to stay.

“I need to feel good here. It’s important that my family is happy, and if they’re happy in Como, I’ll stay.”
