Celtic manager, Martin O’Neill has explained why Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is struggling this year at the club.
Iheanacho has struggled for regular playing game time since the start of the year.
The 29-year-old joined Celtic during the summer transfer window after terminating a three-year contract with Sevilla after just a season.
While he had a brilliant start with the Scottish giants, providing three goal contributions in four games, Iheanacho’s hamstring problem has hindered him from further progress.
“I don’t think he [Iheanacho] has played that much during the course of the season, to tell you the truth. But I think he’s got a good ability to hold it up,” O’Neill told Daily Record.
“It is just in terms of full fitness and things, that’s a bit of a concern. I do feel for him a little bit, because my job is not to please everyone here at the football club.
“To be perfectly honest, I don’t think he’s had a proper chance, because I thought there were other people who may be better equipped for this league at this minute.”
