CELEBRITY Traitors contestants became convinced that Clare Balding was a traitor after she made a significant mistake during the first task.
It was revealed that the celebrities were required to carry a Trojan Horse to a fire pit located on a hill and set it ablaze within 30 minutes.

However, on their way, they encountered four locked gates, each presenting a question or puzzle that needed to be answered correctly to obtain the key to unlock the gate.
If they successfully ignited the Trojan Horse within the time limit, they would earn £15,000 for their prize fund.
But just minutes into the challenge, the TV presenter made a grave error that could jeopardize her place in the competition.
As they approached the first gate, the group's initial question was: “How many characters die in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet combined?”
While they attempted to figure it out, Clare began inputting various guesses on the combination lock.
In her haste, she inadvertently locked in an answer, preventing them from trying again.
With her head in her hands, a distraught Clare exclaimed: “No! Why did I? I didn’t realize I had locked it in. I’m so sorry!”
“I’ve made a complete blunder because I didn’t realize that was locking it in,” Clare explained to the group.
In a confessional, she stated: “It’s over even before it started, even before they had a chance to make a sensible guess.”
Back at the castle, Tom Daley was left trying to figure out who the traitors were.
Earlier in the episode, Claudia selected her three traitors – Alan Carr and Cat Burns.
Unaware that Alan is a traitor, Tom remarked: “The traitors wouldn’t have just met to say hello.”
“There must have been some ulterior motive behind it, and I think it revolves around how many shields you can strip from the group, either by causing mistakes or slowing them down enough to force them to use shields to progress in the game.”
Alan quickly seized the opportunity to divert attention onto Clare.
Alan gasped and said: “Clare Balding,” to which Tom replied: “You said it, not me.”
Alan continued to plant doubt, saying: “She pulled that lever. No, she looked devastated.”
“She did, but was it an ‘oh’ or an ‘ohhh’?” Tom speculated, suggesting that Clare might have intentionally sabotaged the task.
Alan countered: “It can’t be Clare; a traitor would devise a plot like you have with poor Clare, who hasn’t done anything wrong.”
Tom asked: “Are you trying to defend her?”
Alan chuckled awkwardly and said: “Leave her alone,” while wiping beads of sweat from his forehead.
TRAITORS VS FAITHFUL
The celebrities were thrown into the deep end as they struggled through a grave-digging challenge just moments into the launch episode.
Then it was time for Claudia to make her selection of traitors.
After a tense wait in the roundtable room, Claudia touched the shoulders of Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, and Cat Burns – indicating they were the chosen ones, while the rest would become the Faithfuls.
However, it didn’t take long for Alan to slip up.
Alan immediately began telling the rest of the group that he believed Celia Imrie and Clare Balding were the traitors.
In a confessional, Jonathan admitted he needed to be “nimble” if he was going to succeed.
While trying to identify the traitors, he focused on Cat.
Meanwhile, comedian Joe Wilkinson left Alan sweating as he interrogated him, but the television host just laughed it off.
One viewer commented: “Alan as a traitor is such a hilarious move from Claudia. He’s already panicking.”
A second viewer posted: “Alan is going to have a breakdown.”
A third added: “Alan Carr is causing me anxiety,” while another wrote: “I think Alan Carr will give himself away too easily.”
This viewer shared: “Alan Carr is definitely going to slip up. The other two will throw him under the bus.”
Another remarked: “Alan will reveal himself in five minutes.”
Claudia then announced that their first murder would occur in plain sight, with the victim being revealed tomorrow night.
