CAROL McGiffin has called for Loose Women to be axed and savagely labelled her former co-stars “rich women whinging about the menopause”.

The straight-talking 66-year-old had two stints on the ITV show from 2000 until 2013 and between 2018 and 2023, when she left over a dispute about her contract.

Following huge cutbacks at , which saw , has taken aim.

Writing in her column for Best magazine, she said: “There’s nothing worse than having to watch someone you love die a slow, painful death but it’s also painful to watch when something you loved dies a slow death.

“And so it is, in my opinion, with Loose Women. It’s been happening for a while but now it seems to be in its final throes.”

Carol didn’t hold back when discussing the panellists, branding them “boring” and “unfriendly”.

She continued: “Loose Women used to be a show full of humour, with strong sassy women, innuendo and risqué topics.

“It was a joy to do and an even bigger joy to watch. Watching now it’s a sad shadow of its former self, boring, strained, unfriendly and with too many rich, whinging women going on about the menopause or their terrible lives.”

The Sun has reached out to Loose Women for comment.

Carol brutally signed off her takedown of the show by writing: “Time to let it go.”

In 2023 she candidly confessed she’d stepped away from the show .

Writing again in Best, she said at the time: “The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say no thanks.

“And I know it looks like I’ve thrown my toys out of the pram, but the whole saga was affecting my health.”
