MISFITS BOXING promoter Kalle Sauerland is growing confident he can strike a deal to bring Carl Froch out of retirement to fight Darren Till.

Froch walked away from the sport with a glorious 2014 knockout against George Groves at Wembley – a rematch Sauerland helped promote.

But the former world champion didn’t seem too bothered

The former super-middleweight world champion has spent 11 years in retirement – embarking on an outspoken punditry gig in the meantime.

And former UFC star-turned-boxer Till has been one of his biggest online rivals.

Froch was ringside in Manchester to watch Till brutally knock out 40-year-old ex-UFC champion Luke Rockhold – who needed oxygen to get back to his feet.

Till, 32, furiously tried to confront Froch, 48, before calling him out in an X-rated blast.

And in the more mellow post-fight press conference, Sauerland revealed he has been in talks with Froch over the comeback fight.

He said: “We’ve had a chat yeah. I’ve made a lot of fights with Carl Froch over the years, two (Mikkel) Kessler fights, (Arthur) Abraham, George Groves at Wembley Stadium, so I’ve done a few with Carl.

“I think we can get it done but we’ll see.”

Since leaving behind MMA, Till has become one of the faces of Misfits Boxing , the home to celebrity-style crossover bouts.

Meanwhile Froch is one of Britain’s modern greats – beaten only by Kessler and American legend Andre Ward.

He sat unbothered ringside as Till blasted: “Where the f*** is Carl Froch you little s***house. Get in this f***ing ring.

“You’ve got so much to say on your little YouTube channel with 10k viewers get in this f***ing ring you s***house.

“He’s f***ed off! Mind you he is 50 so I might not call him out.”

Sauerland revealed there has been no official offer to Froch – but maintains a deal can be done.

He said: “Let’s take it one step at a time. I didn’t make him an offer.

“I invited him tonight, he came, he hasn’t been to a Misfits so far from what I can remember so he’s clearly interested in the fight.

“Look, he’s been out the ring a while so he would’ve looked at tonight and it’s a question of has his fists got itchy? It’s as simple as that.

“Darren’s right in what he says there, they both talk the talk and now it’s a question of whether Carl fancies it.

“He doesn’t need to financially, he doesn’t need to for any other reason, it’s a question now of does he really fancy it? Only Carl can answer that.”

Froch responded to Till’s callout on his YouTube channel – and hinted the price would have to be absolutely right to make a return.

He said: “Can this fight with Darren Till happen? Can it make any sense? Do I want it to happen? Realistically, probably not.

“Listen, I retired 11 years ago and when I retired when I was almost 37. I was like a month away from turning 37 and I’d just rendered George Groves unconscious in front KO’d 80,000 at Wembley Stadium – I don’t mention it much! Just in case you didn’t know.

“I was offered a lot of money to fight (Julio Cesar) Chavez Jr. I was offered money to fight Gennady Golovkin but the desire was gone.

“And when the desire’s gone you’re not gonna jump in the boxing ring because it’s the pain game. It’s the hurt game and you can get seriously injured.

“So I was like, ‘Listen, I’ve done what I needed to do in the game so I retired 11 years ago. I’m emphasising the 11 years again because why would I fight now? Why would I bother?

“Well, easy money. The old bunsen burner. I’m thinking to myself, ‘Hang on a minute. They’re giving away easy money here with these fights.’

“Because Darren Till’s absolutely f***ing useless. I’m not being funny. Listen, I’m talking professional boxing level.

“For the level he’s at he’s done alright, he’s got decent balance, throws a decent backhand from the southpaw stance but let’s be honest this would be a mismatch even at 48 years old. Retired 11 years.

“It’s a mismatch but is there any money in it? Is there any cash in it? I dunno, maybe.”
