CARL FROCH reckons Conor Benn looks like “Gollum” after slashing his weight to fight Ryan Garcia.

Benn, 29, twice fought Chris Eubank Jr at 160lbs in 2025 before dropping down to 150lbs to face Regis Prograis in April.

Now, Benn is gearing up to fight at a gruelling 147lbs.

A recent snap shows the English fighter with barely an ounce of fat on him.

And that picture has not convinced four-time super-middleweight world champion Froch that Benn is in the right shape to win Saturday’s showdown.

He told SunSport: “I don’t know how Conor beats him at this weight.

“Now he’s down at 147 he looks like a boiled chicken. He looks like Gollum. All drained and scrawny and like he’s going to snap.

“He’s going to go in there with , who’s really lightning fast, a good counter-puncher. It’s going to hurt.

“He’s not punching hard below 160, and his punch resistance, we’re going to find out.

“He’ll leap in, leave his feet behind because he’ll be all eager, and he’ll walk onto a hook.

Ryan Garcia will make the first defence of his WBC welterweight title against British superstar Conor Benn THIS Saturday.

The blockbuster Las Vegas event is under the arm of Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing promotion.

Garcia, 28, captured his first world title in February by securing a dominant unanimous decision victory over Mario Barrios.

Benn, 29, is challenging for a world title for the first time in his professional career.

His sole professional defeat came against domestic rival Chris Eubank Jr in April 2025, a loss he quickly avenged with a dominant unanimous decision victory in their November 2025 rematch.

Benn enters the biggest bout of his life following a decisive points win over former world champion Regis Prograis in April, which marked his debut under Zuffa Boxing.

“If he can take that, he’s got a chance in the fight, but if he starts wobbling early doors he won’t get past four rounds.”

Benn has already made it clear that he will not be sticking around at welterweight after his scrap with Garcia.

He even plans to skip super-welterweight and jump straight up to middleweight for his next fight.

And listening to his comments on this most recent fight camp, it is not hard to understand why.

Benn told The Ring : “This camp has felt like I got dragged down to hell, had a fight with Satan and came back to life. That is how I felt.

“The weight-cut is that hard. I feel extremely strong at 160 and that is the home for when this fight is said and done.”

Although concerns have been raised about Benn at welterweight, he still boasts an impressive 25-1 professional record.

And a recent sparring session with .

WBC welterweight champion Garcia will present an entirely different challenge, though. And the American has not given Benn much credit.

He told Piers Morgan Uncensored : “His dad [Nigel Benn] is the only reason he’s at this point in his career.

“So I’m really getting paid a bunch of money to beat up a beginner.

“This dude is not at my level. He’s a jokester, and he’s banking on me not working hard.”
