AT least three people have died and 55 were left injured after a horror train crash in Egypt – with rescuers still scrambling to save survivors.
The harrowing ordeal unfolded near capital city Cairo, after the passenger train derailed between Mersa Matruh and Alexandria.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health revealed the initial death toll following the accident.
All trains on the line have since been stopped, with the crash taking place between Fuka and Galal stations.
The train was on the Matrouh-Moharram Bek line when it suddenly derailed with dozens of frightened passengers on board.
Cranes were called in to lift the damaged carriages back onto the track.
Railway engineers also rushed to the scene to repair the train.
Horrifying pictures showed the train on its side following the sudden crash.
