CAFWCL: We want to beat Bayelsa Queens to third position – Simba boss, Lukula

Simba Queen’s head coach, Charles Lukula says it is important for his team to bow out of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League on a winning note, PNO Sports reports.

The Tanzanians failed to progress into the final of the competition after losing 1-0 to defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the semi-final on Wednesday night.

Lukula’s side will face Nigerian champions, Bayelsa Queens in the third-place match at the Moulay Hassan Stadium on Saturday.

Bayelsa Queens lost 1-0 to hosts AS FAR of Morocco in the second semi-final on Wednesday night.

Domo Okara’s side paid for their profligacy in front of the goal in the game.

The third-place encounter is expected to be a keenly contested affair but Lukula is confident his team will prevail.

“This is an important game, we need to at least go back home with a medal, I will need to concentrate and see how we can score goals if we get those chances we wasted because going back home with the medal would be better for the girls,” Lukula told CAFonline.

“We are going to concentrate, it is not yet over, to see that we improve on our scoring ability. The message I will be giving the girls is that football is not ending today and for us in this competition, we’ve achieved.”
