Former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has said that officials who served under late President Muhammadu Buhari failed to meet the standards he (Buhari) expected.

Abdulsalami spoke in London following Buhari’s death after a brief illness.

He described the late president as a sincere and trustworthy man whose legacy will remain etched in Nigeria’s history.

“During his democratic tenure, he tried his best to fight corruption again,”; he said.

“Unfortunately, most of the officers who served with him were found wanting. They didn’t do as much as he expected of them,”; he added.

DAILY POST reported that Buhari died at the age of 82. He died at the London Clinic on Sunday.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, had arrived in London, UK, to receive the body of Buhari.

Shettima and Gbajabiamila led the Nigerian delegation to London early Monday.
