BRUNO GUIMARAES has completed a £75million move to Arsenal this summer.
The Brazilian midfielder has been one of ‘s standout performers since his arrival from in 2022 – and he leaves as a legend on Tyneside.

played 195 times for the Magpies, helping them to glory in 2025 – the club’s first trophy in 70 years.
Now, the 28-year-old is looking to win more titles at as he looks to help the Gunners to back-to-back triumphs.
Fans will be excited to see in red and they will notice his unusual choice of shirt number.

Guimaraes has worn the number 39 since his days on loan at Athletico Paranaense as a youngster.
The number represented his father’s taxi number when he was working as a driver in Brazil.

Speaking about the choice of number in February 2023, Guimaraes said: “The number tells a story more beautiful than words can say. 39.
“I know people think it’s a weird number for a footballer. But for me 39 is special — no, it’s more than that. It’s magical.
“The number 39 gave me everything in life. It got me to Newcastle. It fed me, clothed me, and paid for three-hour bus rides to pursue my dream.
“#039 was the dispatch number of my father’s taxi in Rio de Janeiro.”
The number 39 shirt was vacant after Harrison Dudziak was released from the club.
Speaking on the move to Arsenal, Guimaraes said: “I feel amazing. I’m glad for the opportunity.
“Since the first time I spoke to [Andrea] Berta and Mikel [Arteta], I was excited. I just felt inside of me that I need a new challenge in my life and I think to be an Arsenal player is going to be an exciting challenge in my life.
“I’m so excited to join you. I will give you my best, I promise. Like I said, I’m your warrior, I’ll never give up.
“Hopefully we can create many, many good memories together.”
