THE UK is set to experience balmy temperatures after months of rain, wind and snow with the nation set to be warmer than in Tenerife today.

Parts of the country could today experience highs of 18C while in northern Tenerife the mercury will only rise to 16C.
South-westerly winds blowing in from across the Atlantic has given temperatures a boost.
The change came over the weekend with , , and Northern all recording their highest temperature of the year so far.
Today’s 18C will mark the hottest day of the year so far in and in temperatures are expected to follow suit.
Tomorrow it is forecast to get even warmer with record temperatures for the year likely to be recorded again.
The sunny will grace the UK for just a few days however with more rain forecast for the weekend.
Mild and sunny spells will dominate the forecast across today and tomorrow with only a few patches of rain falling in parts of the country.
South-east is set to experience the best of the sunshine but temperatures are expected to rise across the nation.
Limited rain will be seen moving into parts of western England and but temperatures are expected to remain mild.
In the north-west there will be clouds obscuring the sun but again the temperature is still expected to be higher than it previously has been.

Despite the brief respite from the poor weather it hasn’t ceased yet, as Friday rolls round more rain and chilly temperatures are expected.
Some parts of the country could even see frost on Friday evening as plummet again.
The fresh rain will be accompanied by some blustery winds, especially in the west.
Some 42 flood warnings and 87 flood alerts are in place despite the warmer weather.
As the week continues the wettest is expected to be seen over western hills, west Scotland is particularly likely to be rained on.
Flooding is expected to remain a concern well into March with the torrential downpours earlier in the year leaving the ground saturated.
Across the next five days ongoing river flooding impacts are probable across .
While in the south of England continued groundwater flooding impacts are expected, the Environment Agency said.

Cloudy with spells of rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland today, with the rain moving into parts of western England and Wales throughout the afternoon. Elsewhere, early fog clearing leading to a very mild day with spells of sunshine.
Tonight:
Outbreaks of rain in the west moving a little further east overnight, although some eastern and southeastern areas remaining dry. Some clearer spells arriving into the northwest later. Mild.
Thursday:
A bright start in the east, otherwise generally rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain. The rain turning heavier and more persistent later in the west. Brisk winds but staying mild.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Unsettled with rain for many on Friday. Brighter but with some showers on Saturday, before cloud and rain returns from the west on Sunday. Often windy, especially in the west.
