A spokesman said: βThe body has been formally identified, and it is that of the missing 23-year-old UK national.β
A report will be prepared for the coroner, they added.
The man had been missing for almost a week after he fell several metres off a cliff into the ocean on January 18.
Emergency services were called to Mystery Bay Beach, in New South Wales β about 7km north of Corrunna β at about 6.40pm.
Cops, marine rescue and a helicopter were dispatched to scour the water after the young man did not resurface. But he could not be found.
Chief Inspector Shane Jessep from the South Coast Police District said the man was with a friend at the time he fell.
The search was scaled back last week.
