A BRITISH Army reservist has been left fighting for his life in an induced coma after a horror quad bike crash in Greece.

Ethan Jones, 21, from Bradford, suffered devastating head injuries after the hired quad bike he was riding crashed with a deafening bang late at night in Rhodes.

His girlfriend Olivia Alssopp, 20, heard the terrifying impact from their hotel before discovering the shocking scene moments later.

Olivia told The Sun: “I heard a massive skirt noise and a huge bang”.

When Ethan failed to answer repeated calls, panic took over.

Olivia said: “He normally answers his phone straight away. He’s not the type of person to not answer his phone.”

Fearing the worst, she rushed out onto the dark road – only to see Ethan lying on the floor next to a of blood.

Olivia said: “The quad bike was tipped over and he was against a big boulard.

“There was a pool of blood just bleeding from his head and his nose and he was bubbly in his mouth.”

With Ethan unresponsive and struggling to breathe, Olivia desperately placed him in the recovery position and called for help.

Olivia continued: “I couldn’t even process what happened.

“I was just in shock. So much shock.”

The cause of the crash remains unclear.

An ambulance arrived within ten minutes – though Olivia said “it felt like forever” – but medics refused to take her with Ethan to the hospital.

In a frantic bid to stay close to him, she jumped in a taxi and rushed to the hospital, only to endure a 13-hour wait without being allowed to see him.

Olivia said staff were “really dismissive” and “no one was really helping,” handing her a letter in Greek explaining his condition.

She was forced to contact the British Embassy, which arranged a translator to understand what had happened.

Ethan has since been airlifted to Crete and placed into an induced coma, with Olivia now scrambling to join him.

The couple – together for three years – were due to fly back to the UK this Saturday after their week-long holiday.

Olivia’s dad, Daniel Allsopp, told The Sun: “I don’t know how we can hold it together.

“I’m just devastated.”

Describing Ethan, he said: “He’s just got a heart of gold.

“He protects Olivia. He wears his heart on his sleeve.”

The pair were not covered by insurance for quad bike accidents.

A GoFundMe page has now been set up by the family to help cover the cost of Ethan’s recovery and bring him back home to the UK.

Over £11,000 has already been raised – but the family faces a £25,000 target to cover the full cost of vital medical treatment.

More than 620 donations have been made so far with the highest donation being £500.

Olivia added: “We’re just hoping enough can be raised.

“I can’t even put into words how I feel because we don’t even know how much the expenses will be.

“It’s just so much pressure on me because I’m out here by myself.”

The Sun has contacted the Foreign Office for comment.
