The horror unfolded at around 1.15pm on Wednesday at an Aldi branch in the Empalot district as shoppers were browsing for food.

Witnesses reportedly saw the teen and a friend being chased through the supermarket aisles by a group of men covering their faces.

A police source told local outlet Actu Toulouse : “He indicated that three of them were wearing balaclavas and were armed with knives.”

The boy was allegedly stabbed twice, suffering wounds to his hip and shoulder blade, according to local media.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and treated the teen inside the store before taking him to Rangueil Hospital.

Firefighters and paramedics reportedly said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The masked attackers had already fled the scene by the time emergency services arrived and police have launched a search to track them down.

The shocking violence reportedly comes less than three months after a similar incident at the same Aldi.

On December 28 last year, a man was allegedly attacked outside the supermarket and forced to hide in the aisles after being struck repeatedly on the head.

But on that occasion the violence reportedly began outside before spilling into the busy store, leaving stunned shoppers watching the chaos unfold.
