Dawson’s mum Chelsea Berg, 30, and her boyfriend Christopher Alexander, also 30, were arrested following the alleged horror assault.
On the morning of October 14, Berg left her tot with Alexander in Collin County, Texas.
The boyfriend then took the child to the hospital on the same afternoon after allegedly hearing a “thud” and finding Dawson injured, according to an affidavit.
Hospital staff alerted cops after revealing the child’s injuries were inconsistent with Berg’s boyfriend’s explanation.
Two days later, Alexander was arrested and charged with injury to a child.
Meanwhile, Berg was also taken into custody on a charge of injury to a child by omission.
Dawson’s dad Dahrian said the injured boy has shown “no improvement”.
He also claimed scans from the hospital revealed his son had suffered “prior abuse”.
Dahrian said he was notified by child protective authorities on Wednesday that Dawson was fighting for his life in the intensive care unit.
He also said his son had undergone emergency treatment – but suffered “global brain damage” after being admitted to hospital last week.
The heartbroken dad told KFDA : “He was beaten so bad that he was beaten to death.
“[Alexander] did beat my son to death, that he did kill him. But when he got to the lobby of Medical Center McKinney, he was already dead.”
Dahrian also alleged that CT and MRI scans revealed “prior bruising that was not coinciding with the healing process” of the Dawson’s most recent injuries.
The dad added: “He was beaten before this attack.
“The attack that killed him wasn’t the only attack. There’s prior abuse in the home.”
Dahrian has since been given custody of both his two children.

He also claimed his ex-wife knew Alexander posed a danger to their family.
Alexander was recently indicted for stalking and had previous convictions of theft and unlawful restraint.
Dahrian said: “He had an ankle monitor, Chelsea knew that.
“He was dealing with stalking allegations, Chelsea knew that.”
Alexander has been charged with injury to a child, stalking and tampering or fabricating evidence with intent to impair the investigation.
Berg swore to police that Dawson was uninjured when she left him with Alexander.
She was granted $100,000 bond following her arrest and has since been released – but is not allowed to come within 500 yards of her children.
A GoFundMe page was also set up to help Dahrian and Dawson navigate through the horrific ordeal.
