Bournemouth vs Man City preview

Manchester City clash with Bournemouth tonight knowing victory is essential if they are to take the Premier League title race to the final day.

Following Arsenal’s routine win over relegated Burnley on Monday night, the Citizens now sit five points behind Mikel Arteta’s side with just six left to play for.

That means anything other than victory on the south coast tonight would see Arsenal crowned Premier League champions for the first time since 2003.

So the equation for City is simple: beat Bournemouth tonight, beat Aston Villa on the final day and hope Crystal Palace can do them a huge favour.

Pep Guardiola’s side are certainly capable of winning both, especially with confidence high following their FA Cup victory over Chelsea at the weekend, which secured a second domestic double after also lifting the Carabao Cup.

City have won nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and keeping seven clean sheets. This is also a fixture they have dominated over the years.

Bournemouth have lost 16 of their 17 Premier League meetings with Manchester City. In fact, City’s 94.1% win rate against the Cherries is the highest one side has against another in Premier League history among teams to have faced each other at least 10 times.

Guardiola’s side have also lost their final away league game in just two of the last 16 seasons, while Bournemouth have been beaten in four of their last six final home league matches.

That said, Bournemouth did win this fixture 2-1 last season and arrive in superb form having gone unbeaten in their last 16 Premier League matches, the longest current run in the division.

Andoni Iraola’s side are not short of motivation either. The Cherries sit sixth in the table and know two wins from their final two matches could yet secure Champions League football for the first time in the club’s history.

Bournemouth vs Man City odds

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Tip 1: Rayan to score or assist

We’re backing Bournemouth teenager Rayan to score or assist tonight, available at 9/5 with Betfair.

The 19-year-old has turned plenty of heads over the last few months, scoring five goals and providing two assists in just 13 Premier League appearances since making his debut in January.

Rayan has now scored in each of his last three league matches and could become only the fourth teenager in Premier League history to net in four consecutive games.

The underlying numbers suggest he is more than capable too. No Bournemouth player has registered more shots or more efforts from inside the box across the last six matches, while Rayan also ranks third in the squad for expected assists.

Bet: Rayan to score or assist at 9/5 with Betfair

First goalscorer and correct score prediction

Bournemouth vs Man City

  • First goalscorer: Erling Haaland at 11/4 with Sky Bet
  • Correct score: 1-2 at 7/1 with SBK

Tip 2: Jeremy Doku to score or assist

I sound like a broken record, but I’m sticking with Manchester City livewire Jeremy Doku to score or assist tonight, priced at 6/5 with Sky Bet.

The Belgian winger, 23, is delivering in the big moments right now – and there are few bigger than tonight’s clash on the south coast.

Doku has scored four goals and provided two assists across City’s last six matches in all competitions, while four of those goal involvements have come in his last three away games alone.

Bet: Jeremy Doku to score or assist at 6/5 with Sky Bet
