A BODY has tragically been found at the bottom of cliffs near a popular seaside village.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene after witnesses reported that a person had gone over the edge of a cliff at Aberporth, West Wales, this morning.

A Cardigan RNLI lifeboat was summoned just before 10.30am and a body was sadly found lying on rocks at the base of cliffs.

Dyfed-Powys Police cordoned off a section of the cliff path near Bryn Seion car park after the tragic discovery.

The Wales NHS Ambulance personnel and HM Coastguard were also in attendance at the scene.

Coastguards then confirmed that a body had been recovered by a Cardigan lifeboat.

The person has not been identified by police but an inquest is due to be held.

Aberporth is a popular recreational fishing village with a population of over 2,000.
