ADMINISTRATORS have formally filed to request the closure of Portuguese football club, Boavista.
A Bola report the Commercial Court of Vila Nova de Gaia is handling the potential insolvency of the club.

It comes after Boavista, a club who reached the semi-finals for the in 2003, became riddled with debt.
Nicknamed the Chequered Ones, the club has 123 years of rich history.
This includes winning the Primeira Liga in 2001, winning the Portuguese Cup five times and the Supertaca de three times.
But Boavista are now set to be liquidated following a recommendation from the creditors’ committee, including the Tax Authority and Somague.
The club owe £6.1million to the construction company entrusted with the development of their stadium.
Indeed, they were so short of money at one stage that electricity at the Estadio de Bessa was cut off in April after the club failed to pay its bill.
A number of players were also owed money after going months without being paid.
One of these was US defender Reggie Cannon, who terminated his contract in the summer of 2023 to join after 29 months at Boavista.
And following an appeal at the court of arbitration for sport, Boavista were ordered to pay him £350,000 (€400,000).
Boavista were banned from signing players for five windows by as a result of their financial troubles, before they were relegated from the Portuguese top flight in last place in 2024/25.
But they were also banned from playing in the Liga Portugal 2 by the country’s governing body.
They were then refused registration to the third and fourth tier, resulting in the club being set to start their season in the fourth tier.
But due to being unable to field a team and racking up losses by default, the club withdrew from the league at the end of October.
