The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four of its members for three months over allegations of instigating impeachment moves against the Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh.

Those affected by the suspension at Friday’s plenary include the Assembly’s spokesman, Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), Cyril Ekong (Oju 2), Abu Umoru (Apa), and Shimawua Terna (Kyan).

In the aftermath of the decision, the House also reshuffled its leadership positions. Kennedy Angbo was named the new Deputy Majority Leader, Douglas Akya was appointed Deputy Chief Whip, while Elias Audu replaced Berger as spokesman.

Meanwhile, the Assembly commenced screening of five commissioner-nominees, with two — Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza — scheduled to appear later.
