The Benue State House of Assembly has turned down two commissioner-nominees presented by Governor Hyacinth Alia after they failed to convincingly respond to petitions lodged against them during their screening.

Those rejected are Dr. Yangien Ornguga and Mr. James Dwen, with lawmakers insisting their explanations were unsatisfactory.

The House subsequently resolved that the governor should submit replacements for consideration.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Tersoo Zamber, six other nominees scaled through the screening and were confirmed by the Assembly.

They include Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, Hon. Denis Iyaighgba, and Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh commended members for what he described as a thorough and transparent exercise.

He also urged the confirmed commissioners to serve with integrity and commitment to the people of Benue.
