The Benue State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia and the Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh.

A statement on Wednesday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Terver Zamber, said the house took the decision during a plenary presided over by the Speaker Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh.

He said the vote of confidence was passed on the Governor and the Speaker after a motion moved by Douglas Akya, representing Makurdi South State Constituency, informing the house that the Governor has demonstrated total respect for the rule of law and in the spirit of collaboration, acted swiftly in line with the resolutions of the house.

Zamber said, Akya further explained that the Governor has shown uncommon commitment to the welfare of the people of Benue State by addressing the concerns and demands presented by the House.

He said: “The House commended the Honourable Speaker for his exceptional leadership which has enabled the smooth running of the tenth Assembly.

“The house condemned in totality the ongoing attempts by non-state actors to undermine the leadership of the House by instigating moves to impeach the Speaker without just cause, thereby seeking to destabilize the peace and progress of this Assembly and our dear State.

“The House passed a Vote of Confidence on the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, affirming their unwavering support for his leadership and rejecting in totality any attempts by non-state actors to interfere with the internal workings of the Assembly.”
