Published on June 17, 2025 at 12:17 PM

The Benue State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension of six lawmakers earlier sanctioned for alleged misconduct and disruption of legislative proceedings.

The affected legislators Solomon Gyila, Williams Ortyom, Blessed Onah, Simon Gabo, Anyor Mato, and Elias Audu, were among 13 members suspended by the Assembly on February 19, 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Terver Zamber, confirmed that the decision to reinstate the lawmakers followed a formal apology they tendered to the Speaker and the House.

“The House has lifted the suspension on the six members following their apology letter,”; Zamber stated.

He added that the lawmakers are now expected to resume full legislative duties.
