The Stretford End chanted “One more year, one year Casemiro” for the departing midfielder, who has just four games remaining after United opted

, has become an inspiration for any player fighting to win back their place in the team after two difficult years.

And said: “You are stupid if you don’t look at him and try to be like him when it comes to the work rate.

“He’s a working machine. He’s experienced, what he’s putting on the pitch is unbelievable.

“You need someone like this. Unfortunately, he’s leaving, but we are pleased that we can manage him until the last minute in the game and we’re going to use him.”

Just over 14 months ago, Casemiro was frozen out of the starting XI for three months and nearly shipped off to Saudi Arabia in January 2024.

Yet, true to the pedigree of a man with five Champions League titles to his name, the legend dusted himself off and fought relentlessly to win Ruben Amorim’s favour.

Casemiro’s leadership and professionalism has rubbed off on certain members of United’s squad. He has started 31 out of a possible 32 Premier League games this season.

“Unfortunately, he leaves at the end of the season, but it’s important to keep him up like this.”

Casemiro ran over 20 yards to embrace Amad on the halfway line after the Ivorian winger made the vital interception that started the breakaway for Sesko’s goal. Amad had endured a poor first half before that.

Casemiro’s celebrations and love for the game have not gone unnoticed.

United’s want to free up space on the wage bill is understandable, as Casemiro earns over £350,000 per week but continues to struggle with the physical demands of the midfield.

Ineos were clear that they would not repeat past mistakes with keeping players for too long.

I’ve looked up to him a lot since I arrived here and he’s helping me a lot.”

Casemiro’s form will attract European interest, but Saudi and MLS clubs are also swooping in—with a US move looking plausible given his frequent family trips to Florida over the last four years.

The Red Devils are set to sign two new marquee midfielders in the summer transfer window, with

Sesko also wants Carrick to become United’s next permanent boss in the summer.

He said: “He’s an amazing coach, I’ve said this many times. He’s brought different energy.

“Also the way we’re doing in the training, it’s unbelievable and I would like to have him here.”

United are on the verge of Champions League qualification, moving 11 points clear of sixth-place Brighton to cement their hold on third before hosting Liverpool on Sunday.

“We’re in a good place. We have to keep it up like this. We’re looking forward to the next game, to try and secure the Champions League.”

Sesko’s nine goals in his last 14 games have capped off a debut campaign when he has directly earnt United 14 of their 61 points.

Sesko has scored six goals in 28 Champions League appearances for Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, having played in Europe’s elite competition three more times than

Fernandes set up Sesko’s goal for his 19th assist of the season, meaning he needs two more across the final four games to break and record.

Sesko said: “He is capable of anything. I’m listening to him on and off the pitch. I’ve looked up to him a lot since I arrived here and he’s helping me a lot.”

On scoring his 11th of the campaign to top United’s goalscoring charts, Sesko said: “Scoring here will never get old.”

The striker said his goal for the season was to “get used to the league” and that he has achieved that by “getting better from game to game”.
