Seidou, addressing the nation on television, declared that the coup attempt has been foiled.
He stated: “In the early hours of Sunday, December 7, 2025, a small faction of soldiers initiated a mutiny aimed at disrupting the state and its institutions.
“In response to this situation, the Beninese armed forces and their leadership, true to their oath, remained loyal to the republic. Their decisive action enabled them to maintain control of the situation and prevent the coup.
“The government therefore encourages the public to continue with their daily activities as usual.”
