It was far from smooth sailing on the pitch, but the same could even be said during the World Cup’s new hydration breaks.
The stoppages in play occur in the middle of each half to allow players to cool down in the warm conditions across the , and .
But Garcia and his players got more hydration than they bargained for as a sprinkler on the pitch drenched the group during their meeting at the break.
The players might have been grateful for the cooling shower, before they headed back out to battle for the last half-hour of the match.
The former Marseille and boss was probably less pleased as he squelched back into his seat in the dugout.
He was so drenched that his smart shirt became transparent as it stuck to his skin.
Fans watching from home were in stitches at the sight of the manager on the broadcast, though some who didn’t see the sprinkler incident thought that it was only sweat that had caused him to soak through his shirt.
One fan wrote: “Rudi Garcia are you okay.”
While another joked: “The boy looks like he’s fallen into a swimming pool.”
Hopefully he will bring a change of clothes with him just in case when Belgium return to action on Sunday.
