A BEAUTY queen has died after she was struck by lightning in a freak accident as she peacefully brushed her niece’s hair.
Ana Beatriz Araújo Ferreira, 22, was in her mother’s garden in Brazil with her young relative when the bolt suddenly hit.


The young mother was rushed to hospital on Saturday but sadly died later that day.
Occurring during a family lunch in Almas, her brother César Augusto, said the tragedy unfolded in a split second.
Ana, who was studying to become a physiotherapist, had recently been crowned Queen of the Rodeo at the town’s ExpoAlmas Fair.
César said she was the family’s “rock”.


He said: “Aninha is and was one of the most beautiful people I have known in my life.”
Her godmother, Marcella Batista, said she was a “joyful” young woman and a “model mother” who was devoted to her five-year-old son.
She said: “She always came to spend weekends with her mother, looked after her sisters, did their hair and cooked nice food.”
The Almas Rural Union who crowned the late beauty queen said she represented the event with joy and love for local tradition.
“Her departure leaves immense sadness in everyone who had the privilege of knowing her,” the union said.
A wake was held on Sunday at the family home and she was buried on Monday morning at the town cemetery.
Ana’s tragic death comes following another tragic passing of a young beauty queen.

The exact cause of death remains unknown but she had a lifetime of struggles.
