THE Crown star Claire Foy and Succession favourite Matthew Macfadyen are to take the romantic lead roles in a big new BBC drama.

The actors will appear in an adaptation of David Nicholl’s bestselling book, You Are Here, a story which has been compared to hit drama, One Day.

Claire, best known for portraying in , will play the female lead, a character called Marnie Walsh who is a 38-year-old editor from London.

The male counterpart will be Matthew, best known for playing Tom Wambsgans in , as a 42-year-old geography teacher from York.

You Are Here, which tells the story of two middle aged people who fall in love on a walking trip.

After both their marriages have failed they’re invited on the mini trek by a mutual friend who hopes bringing them together might ignite some kind of relationship.

It certainly seems to work too because they start in the Lake District, continue into the Yorkshire Dales, and end up on the other side of England on the North York Moors.

The book the show is based on, which deals with the topics of love, loneliness, and second chances in later life, was published in 2024.

You Are Here gained awards as well as rave reviews from critics, including one who says described is as a “One Day for midlife romantics”.

Further casting on the show, which is expected to air on BBC One, has yet to be announced but it’s likely toattract a pretty impressive supporting cast given the calibre of the two leads.

Filming is due to start later this year on the project which is viewed as a big drama for the Beeb.

It’s due to air in 2027.
