Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has assured that he will never permit the state to become a haven for bandits, terrorists, or other criminals.

He made this declaration on Thursday while presenting the 2026 budget, exceeding N878 billion, to the State House of Assembly.

The governor elaborated that Bauchi has put in tremendous effort to attain peace, and anyone attempting to disrupt that tranquility will face severe legal repercussions.

“Bauchi has sacrificed significantly to enjoy the peace we have today. We will not allow any group or individual to transform our state into a zone of fear or insecurity,” he stated.

He cautioned that anyone who introduces banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, or violence into the state will be held accountable.

He further emphasized, “Anyone who attempts to cause turmoil in Bauchi will encounter the full force of the law. We are all prepared to safeguard our state, and anyone planning conflict will be dealt with decisively.”

Governor Mohammed also cautioned traditional leaders and government officials against shielding criminals or assisting them in any manner. He indicated that anyone found selling community land, forest areas, or grazing land without government authorization would face penalties.

“No leader or official should conceal criminals, negotiate with them, or sell land unlawfully. Anyone involved in aiding criminals or disposing of land without consent will face serious consequences.”

He also affirmed that his administration will persist in combating illegal logging, mining, charcoal production, and the use of forests as hideouts for criminals.

“We will manage our land and forests responsibly for farmers, herders, investors, and future generations. However, we will not allow any part of Bauchi—be it forest, mountain, or village—to serve as a refuge for bandits or criminals,” he concluded.
