- Disciplinary Action Against Dahiru Abdullahi
The Bauchi State Teachers Service Commission has terminated the employment of a schoolteacher, Habibullah Umar, after confirming that he forged two university degree certificates and impersonated a qualified teacher for more than two decades.
The Commission’s Information Officer, Dahiru Adamu, made this announcement in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the decision was based on the recommendations of an investigative committee that uncovered clear evidence of forgery and impersonation.
As stated in the announcement, Umar, who had been employed for 23 years, submitted two fraudulent degree certificates allegedly from the University of Jos. The deception was revealed after discrepancies in his credentials were identified.
“After confirming with the University of Jos, it was established that the certificates were not issued by the institution. The investigation concluded that Habibullah’s highest qualification is a NABTEB certificate,” the statement explained.
The statement also mentioned that a public disclaimer regarding the dismissed teacher will be published in a national newspaper, and examination bodies including WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB will be informed, as he had served as an examiner for several years.
In a separate disciplinary measure, the Commission also sanctioned an officer from the Ministry of Education, Dahiru Abdullahi, for being absent from duty for an entire year without official permission.
He was demoted by one grade level and instructed to repay all salaries received during his absence.
The Commission indicated that Abdullahi’s actions violated Rule 03302 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations (Revised Edition), which mandates dismissal for extended absence without leave. However, it was noted that leniency was shown since this was his first recorded infraction.
