Bauchi State Government has announced the passing of Brigadier-General Abu Ali (rtd.), a former Military Administrator of the state.

Governor Bala Mohammed extended condolences to the family of the late General and the people of the Bassa Nge Kingdom in Kogi State, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.

The statement detailed that General Abu Ali served as Military Administrator of Bauchi State from September 1990 to January 1992 under the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.

His tenure featured key developmental projects, including the commissioning of the Bauchi Township Water Project, consolidation of the state’s Tomato Processing Company, and establishment of Wikki Tourists Football Club.

The statement also recalled his decisive handling of the 1991 ethno-religious unrest in Tafawa Balewa and other communities, where he deployed security measures and imposed a curfew to restore order.

Governor Mohammed commended the late administrator’s peaceful transition of power to a democratically elected government in January 1992.

After his military career, the late Abu Ali became the Etsu Bassa Nge in Kogi State in 2000, serving as a first-class traditional ruler.

The governor called on residents of Bauchi State to pray for the repose of his soul.
