BARCELONA are looking to beat Chelsea and Manchester City to the next big signing out of Brazil.

A host of clubs including , , and have all entered the fight to snap him up.

But Barca are in the mix as well now with reports in Spain suggesting that sporting director Deco has taken it upon himself to push for a deal.

The former midfielder is said to have rung Palmeiras’ youth coordinator Joao Paulo Sampaio in a bid to turn things Barca’s way.

Deco is described as meeting with Conceicao’s camp earlier this year in January to make their interest clear.

And now club-to-club talks are underway with initial valuations of the 16-year-old at around £35million.

Palmeiras are keen to get a much bigger fee having banked an initial £30million for last summer and a potential £21million more in add-ons.

City bought defender Vitor Reis for £30million in January 2025 with also coming from the club’s academy.

City are claimed to have already put in a first bid for Conceicao with them also negotiating for striker 18-year-old Heittor as well.

He would be going to Girona on loan as part of the City multi-club model, but there are grand plans for Conceicao.

The youngster cannot move to Europe until he turns 18, which will not be until December 2027, but is still viewed as one of the next big talents around.

That offers hope as they continue to lack cash – with money not going onto the books until further down the line.

They could make him a long-term replacement for on the left wing whilst also being able to operate in attacking midfield.

He recently starred for at the Under-17 South American Championship.

Teen forward Conceicao bagged two goals and two assists on the way to a semi-final exit.

He is yet to play a senior game for Palmeiras but comes with a big reputation.

Barca signed Palmeiras No9 for big money in January 2024 but have since sold him back to Brazil.

Roque, another tipped for success, struggled to settle and only scored twice in his 16 appearances before getting seven in 33 on loan at .
