Barau FC secured promotion to the Nigerian Premier League after defeating Doma United 2-0 on Thursday, with goals from Usman Maidubji and Shamsu Muhammad sealing the victory.
This marks the first time in the club’s history that it will participate in the country’s top-flight football league.

The promotion has also paved the way for a historic first-ever Kano derby in the Premier League, as Barau FC will face city rivals Kano Pillars in the upcoming season.

Barau FC is owned by the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, who hails from Kano State.
