Armed bandits launched a deadly attack on Kuru-Kuru community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Monday, killing the district head, Shehu Makau, and abducting several residents.

The assault, which occurred in broad daylight, left many residents dead and others with varying degrees of injuries, according to a post by security analyst Bakatsine on Monday via his X account.

“Bandits struck this afternoon at Kuru-kuru community in Maru LGA of Zamfara State. Several lives were lost, many sustained injuries and a number of residents were abducted. Among those killed was Shehu Makau, the district head of the area,”; Bakatsine wrote.

The number of those abducted and injured remains unclear at press time, as authorities have yet to issue an official statement.
