Ballon d’Or: ‘He deserves it’ – Chippo snubs Dembele, Yamal, names African star to win award

Former Morocco midfielder, Youssef Chippo, has snubbed Kylian Mbappe, Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembele as he picked Achraf Hakimi as most deserving of the Ballon d’Or this year.

According to him, it would be ‘logical’ for the PSG right-back to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

No doubt, most fans and the media believe that the 26-year-old should be among the contenders for the award.

The north African is regarded widely as one of the best in his position at the moment.

Last season, he was pivotal for PSG winning the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions.

He also won the UEFA Champions League and reached the FIFA Club World Cup final with the French side.

In the process, the defender scored 15 goals and recorded 18 assists in 68 appearances for club and country.

In an interview with news outlet Le360, Chippo said that the Moroccan full-back is the frontrunner for the award.

“And if he [Hakimi] were to win it, it wouldn’t be a gift, it would be a logical reward.

“He was consistent, decisive, and always stepped up... (he maintained a) very high level of performance from the first match to last,” he said.

Portugal and PSG midfielder, Vitinha, PSG’s Ousmane Dembele, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha both of Barcelona and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah are the other contenders for the award.
