Former Germany international, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has ranked Lamine Yamal higher ahead of Ousmane Dembele in the 2025 Ballon d’Or race.
The 40-year-old, who did not name his pick for the Ballon d’Or this year, believes the Spain international should finish higher above Dembele in the award ranking.
Schweinsteiger spoke after Yamal led Spain to beat France in the Nations League semi-final encounter on Thursday.
According to him, the Barcelona winger was better than Dembele during the encounter in Germany.
“Ballon d’Or? Lamine Yamal has to be put higher than Dembele,”; the former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder told SWR as quoted by Metro UK.
“Lamine Yamal was better tonight,”; he added.
Yamal and Dembele are strong contenders for the 2025 Ballon d’Or because of their performances their so far.
Yamal won the LaLiga and Copa del Rey with Hansi Flick’s side, while Dembele won the UEFA Champions League, French Ligue 1 and Coupe de France with Paris Saint-Germain last season.
