Former Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has named four players as the front-runners to compete for the 2015 Ballon d’Or.
The winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or will be announced in Paris next month.
There are several top contenders for the award and Hargreaves believes the likes of Osumane Dembele, Raphinha, Mohamed Salah and Lamine Yamal are the players in pole position for the award.
“You would probably have to say Dembele,” Hargreaves said as quoted by TNT Sports.
“I think Raphinha’s numbers were absolutely exceptional. Yamal will be thereabouts, I think.
“There are so many contenders. Mo Salah had a season for the ages, didn’t he? In terms of goals and assists as well.
“But I think just from the jump that he made, I think Dembele, and winning the Champions League and virtually playing a position he’s never played before – as a striker, as a false nine – and then winning the Champions League and him being kind of the star of that, I think he will probably be the front-runner.
“But again, we’ve seen it doesn’t always go according to plan. Rodri got it the year before, when everybody thought Vini [Vinicius] would get it.
“So, I think whoever wins at the end of that season, they will be the front-runner.”
