Ballon d’Or 2025: I’m very happy – Messi reacts as Dembele wins award ahead of Yamal

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has reacted to Ousmane Dembele winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or ahead of Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

Messi said he was ‘very happy’ for the France international and also congratulated him on his victory.

The Inter Miami forward and Dembele were former teammates during their time at Barcelona in the past.

Dembele was announced as the winner of the 2025 Ballon d’Or at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on Monday.

The Frenchman ranked above Yamal, who finished in second position and Vitinha in third place in the list.

After his triumph, Dembele shared a post on his Instagram account from the event and wrote: “Lots of joy, pride and emotion. A dream come true. Thank you to all those who have always supported me throughout this journey. #ballondor”.

Commenting on Dembele’s post, Messi wrote: “Great Ous!!! Congratulations, I’m very happy for you. You deserve it.”
