Head coach of France, Didier Deschamps, has backed Ousmane Dembélé to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Deschamps was speaking ahead of their UEFA Nations League semi-final with a Spain team, which will feature another leading contender for the award, Lamine Yamal.

Last weekend, Dembele won the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain and was later named player of the season.

The Ligue 1 giants completed the Treble this term, also winning the league title and Coupe de France.

“Obviously, this Nations League can bring some elements of response, the Club World Cup too. If I have to choose, I tell you Ous, 100%, of course.

“If you ask me about the Spaniards, I don’t think they will tell you the same thing.

“But obviously, Ousmane, with the season he is having, deserves it,”; Deschamps told reporters.
