Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has named Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema his favourite for the 2022 Ballon d’Or prize.
The ceremony for this year’s award takes place on Monday in Paris.
Benzema has enjoyed a sensational year, having spearheaded Los Blancos’ victorious campaigns in LaLiga and the Champions League.
Throughout the year, the 34-year-old scored 29 goals in all competitions for Real.
Ahead of the award ceremony, Lewandowski told Vamos, he said: “The Ballon d’Or is likely to be won by Benzema… if they don’t cancel it.”
Lewandowski will go head-to-head with Benzema in Sunday’s El Clasico to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu.
