But just three to four days after the procedure carried out on February 12, 2023, the baby boy began showing signs of serious illness.

An ambulance was called and rushed Mohamed to Hillingdon Hospital on February 19, 2023.

He then tragically went into cardio respiratory arrest.

Mohamed was pronounced dead later that night at around 11.55pm.

Following his heart breaking death, a coroner has now issued a stark warning.

Assistant coroner Dr Anton van Dellen raised fears that circumcisions are being carried out by people with no training, no regulation, and no safety checks.

Mohamed’s procedure was carried out by a circumciser recommended to his parents and chosen by them, a West coroner’s report revealed.

A jury inquest that ended on October 8, 2025, found the medical cause of death to be an “invasive streptococcus pyogenes infection following male circumcision.”

Dr Anton van Dellen said the case exposed dangerous gaps in how non-therapeutic male circumcisions are carried out in the UK.

In a Prevention of Future Deaths report dated December 28, 2025, he warned: “During the inquest, the evidence revealed matters giving rise to concern.

“In my there is a risk that future deaths could occur unless action is taken.

“The matters of concern are as follows: any individual may conduct a non-therapeutic male circumcision without any prior training or any Continuing Professional Development (CDP).

“There is no system of external accreditation and/or registration for individuals who conduct a non-therapeutic male circumcision.

“There is no requirement for any record keeping for individuals who undergo a non-therapeutic male circumcision.

“There is no requirement for any infection control measures for a non-therapeutic male circumcision.

“There are no requirements for any aftercare for a non-therapeutic male circumcision (NTMC), including but not limited to dressing the wound, analgesia and/or worsening care advice.”

Dr van Dellen also raised alarm over the lack of a formal system for obtaining consent before procedures are carried out.

The hard-hitting report has been sent to the and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

They have 56 days to respond.

Copies were also sent to Mohamed’s heartbroken parents, his maternal grandmother, his uncle, and the Ambulance Service.
