Australia travel to Doha for their fifth consecutive World Cup appearance.

Although, they haven’t made it out of the group stage in their previous three attempts.

What are the lyrics to Australia’s national anthem?

To get them into the mood before kick-off, Australia sing ‘Advance Australia Fair’, which replaced ‘God Save the Queen’ in 1974.

The anthem was originally published in 1878 by Scotland-born composer Peter Dodds McCormick.

However, the lyrics were tweaked last year following complaints that they were divisive and failed to recognise the legacy of Indigenous Australians.

Here’s how it goes:

Verse 1

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil
Our home is girt by sea
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty, rich and rare
In history’s page let every stage

Advance Australia fair
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair

Verse 2

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands
For those who’ve across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share
With courage let us all combine
