Of the 14 injured, three are in a critical condition, Austin-Travis County EMS Chief Robert Luckritz has said.

Paramedics were called to the bar at 1:59am and responders arrived within one minute where police officers were confronted by the alleged gunman, aiming the weapon at them.

“Officers immediately transitioned … and were faced with the individual with a gun,” Chief of Police Lisa Davis said at a press conference on Sunday morning.

“Three of our officers returned fire, killing the suspect.”

“We were fortunate,” she said, that the bars had started closing and law enforcement could respond rapidly.

Mayor Kirk Watson praised the heroic efforts of officers at the scene, telling reporters that they undoubtedly saved lives with their quick action.

More information is expected to be given throughout the day as the investigation progresses.

The gunman has not publicly been identified and no motive has been determined.
