In terms of action, there was very little to write home about in the first half as neither side could trouble the scorers.

Carlos Baleba was hauled off in the 22nd minute after picking up an early booking, and he was replaced by the veteran Milner.

The second half failed to produce much more action. Villa had failed to hit the target with just ten minutes left to play.

That was until Tyrone Mings headed home for the hosts in the 86th minute despite being against the run of play.
