OVER a dozen John Lewis homeware products have been urgently recalled over fears they contain asbestos.
Shoppers have been urged to stop using the affected items immediately, and keep out of children’s reach.

has recalled 15 novelty doorstops and draught excluders as the products may be contaminated with small quantities of asbestos.
This takes the number of asbestos-containing products pulled from UK shelves to 166 over the last six months.
Included in the were the Duck, Elephant, Frog, Patterned Navy, Pig, Sausage Dog, Fusion, Snowman, Gingerbread, Grey Stripe, Felt, and Llama doorstops, alongside Navy, Grey, and Stripe Draft Excluders.
All the items recalled by the retailer were sold over a five-and-a-half year period, between January 31, 2021, and June 11, 2026.
Manufactured in India, the products presented a as marble chips sealed inside the doorstops and excluders may contain asbestos.
No previous have involved marble chip contamination, with the majority of pulled products involving asbestos-contaminated coloured sand from China.
For any items that contain asbestos, the owners should stop using them immediately.
When the product has not been , it must be placed in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double taped securely, labelled, and stored in a secure location out of the reach of children.
If it is damaged, or the filling inside is accessible, the sand must be cleaned using wet clothes, wearing gloves and a mask – then, the cleaning equipment must be bagged securely in the same way.
Children should be kept away from the areas until they are completely clean.
John Lewis have told customers to return the affected to the nearest store to receive a full refund, and do not require a receipt.
If unable to return the product, it is advised to contact the local authority to get information on how to dispose of the doorstops and excluders safely.
Only yesterday, the former discount department chain, , saw four of its novelty doorstops recalled, even after the business was plunged into administration earlier this year.
retailer has previously pulled 40 of its novelty cdoorstops from its over 170 UK stores for the same reason.
It has been illegal to import, export, sell, or use any forms of asbestos in the UK since 1999 due to well-known evidence that the substance is carcinogenic and harmful even in small quantities.
All forms of fibres are hazardous to humans, and can induce cancers and other lung-related illnesses following inhalation exposure.
