Nigerian rapper, Emeka Akumefule, widely known as Blaqbonez, has expressed that artists should not be judged solely by their streaming numbers and chart positions, emphasizing that these figures can be easily manipulated.

Blaqbonez, who has consistently claimed that bots are being utilized to distort streaming statistics and chart rankings in Nigeria, made these remarks in response to a fan who accused him of hypocrisy for celebrating his diss track for Odumodublvck, titled ‘ACL’, reaching number one on Apple Music Nigeria.

The rapper clarified that he has never undermined the significance of charts, stressing that he only believes artists should not be evaluated solely on these rankings, as they are subject to manipulation.

He encouraged music enthusiasts to assess songs based on their quality rather than their streaming numbers.

“I never criticized the charts; they will always be thrilling, but no artist should be defined by them. Many of the artists I currently enjoy in Nigeria are not featured on our charts.

“You are quick to label someone a failure based on numbers that we know can easily be manipulated. Trust your ears; if something is good, it is good. That’s all I’m saying,” he shared on his X account.
